X-rays

X-rays can be of importance in the diagnosis of several different conditions prior to the patient experiencing any symptoms or pain.  Some of these conditions include:

  • Tooth decay in natural teeth and under fillings
  • Diseases at the root of the tooth or in the bone surrounding the tooth (including abscesses)
  • Signs of gum disease (periodontal disease)
  • Resulting injury after trauma or accidents
  • Some types of developmental abnormalities (including congenitally missing teeth)
  • Various types of tumor growth
  • Even signs associated with systemic illnesses

Our office provides patients with two different types of digital x-rays.

  1. Digital Intraoral x-rays which can show both the crown and roots of the teeth.
  2. Digital Panoramic x-rays which can show developing teeth that have not erupted yet.
